The purpose of this music video is to promote the film Transformers: Dark of the Moon. There is evidence of the film in the music video by having scenes from the film and props from the film such as the lead singing turning into a transformer while in the music video. The mise-en-scene shows that they have transformer costumes to represent the film transformers. The editing enables them to transform from human to a transformer to represent the film. The purpose of this video is shown by having many clips from the film in the music video to make it clear that they are representing a film and not just the song.  For example, at 1:27 minutes into the video, you can clearly see a scene from the film Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
